#118 - Renovations

In preparation for our church's 100th Anniversary Celebration, we've been getting new carpets and such ... this morning I walked into the church from the side door to find the choir room and the hallways FILLED with pews from the sanctuary, where they are installing the new carpet! (04/28/10)

#116 - Requiem

Several of us from church went to hear a performance of Mozart's Requiem, featuring a soloist who goes to our church, Cara Williams.  It was a wonderful experience to hear the beautiful voices, complicated arrangements, and to just let the music wash over you! (04/26/10)

#114 - The "Sun Room"

We painted the room a cheery yellow, and then I took some photos I had on file, added scripture verses to them, and had them printed at Sam's.  Jonathan and I got a nice afternoon of Mommy & Me time for the trip to Slidell, and ended up with beautiful posters for the classroom. (04/24/10)

#107 - Beware of the Dogs ...

...not because they're mean or anything ... they're just HUGE!!!!  These English Mastiffs belong to my stepbrother and his wife, who came down from Texas to help celebrate my dad's birthday.  I don't know that I've ever seen dogs this big ... but Moses and Titus are so sweet and were so good with the kids.

We were on the way home from a baseball scrimmage game when Jonathan said, "Momma - look!  The sun is RED!"  Since I had my camera with me (we'd also gone to a birthday party prior to the scrimmage game), we pulled over on the shoulder of the road to snap this picture.  (04/16/10)

#105 - Journal of a Third-Grader

Jonathan has been reading a series of books called Diary of a Wimpy Kid and has been inspired to keep his own journal.  I found him a black gator-skin journal at Dollar General, and he has already made several entries in it.  I am thrilled that he's started this, and hope it will be a habit he'll continue for a long time. But one of the things that means the most is something I overheard him telling his Daddy ... that his journal was special to him because Momma bought it for him. :)  (04/15/10)

Once a week, I usually go to my son's 3rd grade class to do an art/craft project.  This week I got to go to my kindergartener's class, where I read Eric Carle's Very Hungry Caterpillar and helped the kiddos make butterflies, which we are displaying on the bulletin board outside their classroom! Many spectators lined the course of the Crescent City Classic, which took runners, walkers and sashay-ers from Jackson Square in the French Quarter to the beautiful City Park ... but this one was one of the cutest! :)  (04/03/10)

After our visit to the dentist where Matthew had his four front lower teeth pulled (due to a permanent tooth coming in BEHIND the baby teeth), The tooth fairy left this note and treat in exchange for those four teeth Matthew didn't need any more! (04/01/10)

During the cake walk at the church Easter Party, Tony won this beautiful cake baked and decorated by a young lady at our church ... and it tasted as good as it looked ... evidenced that the fact that it was completely consumed by Sunday!  (03/31/10)

Jonathan set up his own writing station with a dining room chair and TV table to write and illustrate his own story, featuring characters from the Super Mario Bros Galaxy.  I am so proud of his creativity and enthusiasm for writing! (03/30/10)

The sign is just before the entrance to a plant nursery on the way to my friend Stephanie's house ... and every time I see it, I pictures a variety of plants dancing across the road and into the nursery just as the mops dance in the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" section of Disney's Fantasia movie.  (Amite, Louisiana - 3/29/10)
